Our 5th annual Gilbert Indian Soccer Camp begins on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. and continues through Thursday, June 7. Each participant should bring the following equipment to each camp session:

Coach D’s Gilbert Indians Advanced Soccer Camp 2012

For Beginner through Advanced Players

Boys and Girls Ages 9-17

June 4 - 7, 2012

6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

The Benefits of the Gilbert Advanced Soccer Camp 2012:

This camp is designed to provide beginner through advanced players with high quality instruction designed to help them acquire or improve both technical and tactical ability. For the competitive player this camp provides instruction designed to help them refine and improve technical and tactical abilities. For the beginning player this camp offers very structured training sessions that will help the potential player to begin learning the game of soccer starting with the fundamentals, progressing to tactics, and applying the fundamentals and tactics to small sided play.

• Players will be grouped with other players of their age and/or ability level.

 • Daily sessions will be divided into flexibility, technical training, tactical training, and small sided games with the times of each as follows: 6:00 – 6:15 Check in and technical ball drills, 6:15 - 6:45 Dynamic Stretching and Technical/Functional Training including ball handling, passing, controlling with various body parts, trapping/settling the ball, partner combo play, and movement away from the ball. 6:45 - 7:15 Technical training stations, 7:20 –8:05 Demonstrations followed by Tactical training.
8:10 – 9:00 Training through small sided games such as 3v3, 4v4, and 6v6, and possibly 11v11.

• Coach D’s Gilbert Indians Soccer Camp 2012 staff will consist of Coach Kevin Darlington, local club and/or high school coaches, and Gilbert High School Varsity Soccer Players.

• Each player will receive a camp T- shirt if registered by Saturday, May 26.

• The camp will be conducted on the practice fields located next to the high school, and the small sided games will be played under the lights each night.

• $60.00 per player for Gilbert Advanced Soccer Camp 2012.

• Camp will be held Monday, June 4 through Thursday, June 7 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M.

• Players may be dropped off at 5:45 and picked up by 9:00.

About Coach D:

This will be Coach Darlington's fifth summer directing the soccer camp at Gilbert. Coach Darlington is a USSF licensed coach and is in his 5th season as the head coach of the Gilbert Varsity Boys Soccer Team which completed the 2011 season with a 24-3 record, won the AA Upper State Championship, and played in the 2011 AA State Championship Match. For his teams’ efforts Coach Darlington was recognized by The National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the South Carolina Boys Soccer Coach of the Year. Coach Darlington was also recognized as the 2011 Region III AA Coach of the Year, and was selected to coach in the SC-NC High School All Star Match played on Daniel Island last July. Coach Darlington formerly coached at A.C. Flora High School and RidgeView High School. Coach D’s Ridge View teams advanced to the State Finals in 2000 and 2001, and completed the 2001 season ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation. Coach Darlington is a former club (CESA Greenville, S.C.) high school, and collegiate player, and in addition to the recognitions mentioned above Coach D also holds the honor of 1999 South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Boys Soccer Coach of the Year, 2001 Midlands Soccer Coach Of The Year, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2008, and 2010 Region Coach of the Year.
